New Delhi (New Delhi). The revenue department has given a big blow to Okhla constituency MLA Amanatullah Khan of Delhi Assembly. The revenue department said that Amanatullah Khan was not the chairman of the Waqf Board. The Revenue Department of the Delhi Government has said that Amanatullah Khan is not the chairman of the Waqf Board after the Assembly was dissolved in February. Khan was a member of Okhla constituency of the sixth assembly of the state. The term of the Sixth Assembly was completed in February. Khan has also been elected from Okhla seat in the Seventh Legislative Assembly.
The office of the Principal Secretary (Revenue) said in a letter on Friday that after the dissolution of the assembly in February under Section 14 (1) of the Waqf Act, 1995, Khan Waqf is no longer a member and chairman of the board. Khan was nominated to the seven-member Waqf Board as an MLA and was later unanimously elected the Chairman of the Waqf Board in September 2018. A senior Delhi government official denied that Khan had been removed from his post and said the committee would be reorganized afresh by the new government.
